J David Photography - Glimpsing Fate

Glimpsing Fate

How many times must I say goodbye?

To those eyes, that smile.

Fate’s judgment I decry.

In those eyes I lived for awhile.

When fate is not your friend,

Turn to time as your guide.

Sands flowing to the end.

When she leaves, what remains is pride.

The cruelty of life is evident here.

Faint friendship spiriting away.

A fulfilling of the greatest fear.

I am alone in every way.

There have been tests to my resolve.

A siege set against the heart.

For the sins, no wish to be absolved.

I have felt my freedom…in part.

I glimpsed the future and have come to know,

Few souls are destined to be,

Complete and content…and so,

To the well of dreams for me.

How many times must I say goodbye?

The lion has lost his roar.

Valediction without understanding why,

I have to say it just once more.
